How to make a Skinny Girl Margarita

Skinny Girl Margarita (by Bethenny Frankel)

The Margarita is the most popular cocktail drink in the U.S., although it is not clear who actually invented the drink. Some say that the Margarita was invented by a Mexican bartender named Willie and his friend Marguerite Hemery in 1934, whereas others are of the opinion that the drink was invented by Mexican Socialite Margarita Sames in 1948. Whoever the inventor is, the drink does have a Mexican connection.

There are lots of debates all over the world regarding the best recipe, and whether it should be on ice or blended with it.

Regardless, the beverage is a good refresher in any form.

Here is MY favorite recipe...I love these!

2 ounces clear premium silver tequila (count 1, 2 while you pour, no need for measuring)

juice of 1/2 lime

splash Grand Marnier or Bols triple sec

Combine all ingredients over a glass of crushed ice and garnish with a lime wedge. If you like the frozen version, place ingredients in a blender with ice.

(Silver tequila is made from 100% blue agave, which is how the drink is lower in calories...a good one to try is Patron Silver.)

Ole'!

XOXO
